AI pair programmer for building SEO automation

Overview

GitHub Copilot transforms how SEO professionals approach automation by providing an AI pair programmer that understands both coding patterns and SEO workflows. Built on OpenAI's Codex model and trained on billions of lines of public code, Copilot generates entire functions, suggests API integrations, and helps debug scripts that power custom SEO tools and data pipelines.

Microsoft acquired GitHub in 2018 and launched Copilot in 2021 as the first mainstream AI coding assistant. For SEO teams, this means access to an AI that can write Python scrapers, JavaScript automation, and API integrations without requiring deep programming knowledge. Unlike general-purpose AI tools, Copilot understands code context and can suggest complete implementations based on comments or partial code.

The tool has become essential for SEO professionals who need custom solutions beyond what traditional SEO platforms offer. Whether building competitor analysis tools, automating reporting workflows, or creating custom data collection systems, Copilot handles the heavy lifting of code generation while you focus on SEO strategy.

GitHub Copilot used to be the worst of all options but I tried it recently since it is the cheapest way to use Opus 4.5 and I noticed it evolved quite nicely.

r/GithubCopilot

I've been subscribed to GitHub Copilot for $40/month and I honestly regret it. I've tried to stay patient but it's just not delivering.

Losing ground to newer competitors like Cursor and Claude CodeReliability issues and inconsistent performance in Visual StudioGood productivity boost for developers who use itStrong enterprise/workspace integration capabilities

Github Copilot in Visual Studio is a steaming pile of shit. Half the time it just plans and then doesn't implement anything. It's not even apparent it just stopped working either. How can a $3T company after partnering with OpenAI have such a shitty product? Back to VS Code!

@scottdotnetdev

GitHub Copilot had a 2-year head start. Microsoft. Unlimited resources. Built into VS Code. A startup with no users shouldn't have stood a chance. But Cursor's founders saw something Microsoft missed.
